Manual Linear Stage, ULTRAlign, 25.4 mm, Crossed-Roller, Side Drive

The M-462-X-SD ULTRAlign™ Precision Integrated Crossed-Roller Bearing Linear Stages feature stainless steel construction for high stability, with thermally matched, hardened steel crossed-roller bearings for unsurpassed performance and a side drive for a small footprint. The crossed-roller bearings and precision-manufactured bearing reference surfaces provide exceptionally linear 25.4 mm X travel, with angular deviation better than 100 μrad about any axis. Our analysis has shown that optimum stability demands that not only the stage be built of stainless steel, but also the angle brackets, actuator mounts, and even the assembly hardware. ULTRAlign stages overcome the limitations of multi-axis stages derived from traditional tooling industry designs. The actuators are located out-of-the-way of oversized loads.
Generous M6 hole patterns provide easy mounting. The mounting base can be removed for a lower profile. Each axis features a non-influencing locking mechanism for negligible motion of the stage when locking or unlocking. Specially designed actuator mounting blocks allow quick and easy actuator changes, on any axis, at any time. Actuators are not included.

Precision Control and Extra Stiffness
ULTRAlign Stainless Steel Crossed-Roller Translation Stages provide a low profile, yet solid and stable linear translation, that can be locked in place without disturbing translation or position. Perfect for many standard optical applications such as interferometry, linear translation by the crossed-roller bearings and the precision-manufactured bearing reference surfaces provide a maximum angular deviation of <100 µrad for any axis. Z-axis stages do not depend on springs for support, ensuring maximum vertical load capacity. The mounting surface of these stages has multiple threaded holes, available in either English or Metric units, to make mounting easy and versatile in most table-top optical systems.
Side-Drive Versions for Smaller Footprint
When a smaller footprint is required, mounting actuators on the side of a stage can minimize the envelope of the positioning system. Side-drive versions of the 462 Series stages are available as 1-, 2-, and 3-axis assemblies, with right- and left-handed configurations for the 3-axis system. To convert an existing center-drive stage to side-drive, Newport offers side-drive mounting kit. See table below for the compatible kit for each axis of a right- or left-handed stage. The locking plates may be required to relocate to the other side of the stage.
