Custom Opto-Mechanical Component Solutions
Newport has been supplying industry leading opto-mechanical components and manual positioning products for over 40 years. We are continuously developing materials, modifying processes and supplying custom products for customer-specific applications. Some solutions start with a standard product, which is then modified to an application's specific needs. For more demanding or complex applications, our experienced engineering team can work with you to design what you require.
Why Partner with Newport for your Custom and OEM Designs?
Newport has designed thousands of innovative, high precision and top quality opto-mechanical products. But our relationship with customers does not stop at just the design. We can use our extensive analytical and experimental prototype testing to quickly ensure that the designed part works in your application and environment. When a unique design is confirmed to satisfy your requirements, you can be confident in leveraging Newport's ability to ramp production with our global supply chain. We pride ourselves on our world class operations, full ISO certification, quality assurance, and on-time delivery. Newport can assist you with your OEM needs throughout the entire process, resulting in lower project risk while extending the frontiers of science and technology.

Optical Mounts & Manual Positioning Products
Newport can modify most of our standard optical mounts or manual positioning stages to provide a solution specific to your application. We can also build to print from your design or create a new custom solution tailored to your specific needs. Some examples include:
- Special environmental modifications for low outgassing and control of photocontamination
- Addition of mechanical characteristics for your space constraints or mounting requirements
- Modification of our optical mounts for non-standard sized optical components
- Modification of our optical mounts to hold non-optical components such as flow cells, laser diode modules, sensors and fiber optic components
- Insertion of higher or lower tension springs
- Increasing the travel range of manual stages
Environmental Modifications and Enhancements
Newport first started developing and modifying our catalog products to meet vacuum compatible (10-6 Torr) requirements in 1997. Since that time, customers have trusted us to support their most critical needs for vacuum compatible mounts and stages.
Since 2001, Newport has developed materials, processes and infrastructure to support the Semi-Conductor Capital Equipment market and has earned a reputation for meeting the most stringent needs of UV and DUV requirements. We have identified and tested compatible adhesives and lubricants to minimize outgassing concerns for each application, developed and qualified precision cleaning methodologies and invested in processes and infrastructure to preserve cleanliness during assembly and packaging.
We continue to build on this knowledge to offer more options for your specific needs. A recent innovation is our LaserClean line of low volatile organic compounds (VOC). Most of our catalog optical mounts and manual positioning stages can be modified to operate in the following applications:
- Deep-Ultra Violet (DUV)
- Extreme Ultra-Violet (EUV)
- High Energy Infrared\Pre-EUV Light Generation
- Vacuum, 10-6 Torr (V6)
- Ultra-High Vacuum, 10-9 Torr (UHV)
OEM & Sub-Assembly Support
Regardless of the type of custom modification, Newport can support OEM quantities for standard or custom products. We can also assemble and integrate standard or custom products into higher level customer assemblies. Moreover, if you purchase optical components and optical mounts separately to be assembled at your facility, Newport can assemble them for you and ship one complete assembly to you.
Decades of Design Experience
Having designed thousands of the industry's best optical mounts, the Newport engineering team has decades of experience to develop custom mount solutions that meet your performance and budget requirements. Our organization has the size and flexibility to allow our engineers to work with you to make a small modification to a standard part, combine features from multiple parts, or deliver a completely custom part. We have been satisfying custom component customers for more than 40 years.
Extensive Product Testing Capability
Newport's experience and capabilities help customers solve their structural design, vibration control, and thermal stability challenges. With our understanding of the many trade-offs when designing a system, we will work with you to create the optimal solution for your application. For example, our in-house thermal and vibration testing facilities provide real data so designs can be physically validated. These test results are then shared so that you understand the products and components to achieve project success. After the prototype has been built, our in-house testing verifies that the components' performance will fulfill your requirements.
Prototype to Production
We at Newport know that rapid response and communication is critical to your success. Our in-house prototyping and pilot production capabilities provide quick delivery of working prototypes to enable you to move forward with your own design process. After collaborating with you to finalize a design, Newport can quickly ramp production of your custom component. Full ISO certification across all our factories ensures that you receive the highest quality components. Furthermore, Newport's world class supply chain can source globally and produce locally to keep costs to a minimum and deliveries on-time.
