Achromatic Waveplate, Quarter-Wave, Quartz-MgF2, 25.4 mm Diameter, 400-700 nm

The 10RP54-1B Achromatic Quartz-MgF2 Quarter Wave Plate consists of two different birefringent crystals: crystalline quartz and magnesium fluoride (MgF2). Enclosed in a 1 inch (25.4 mm) housing. This 18 mm clear aperture zero-order waveplate has λ/4 retardation over a 400 to 700 nm wavelength range. It has a highly efficient broadband antireflection coating, in an air-spaced design. This construction ensures excellent transmitted wavefront quality, while minimizing beam deviation and surface reflection losses. The assembly is mounted in a black anodized aluminum housing for protection and ease of mounting, with the retarder fast axis marked for alignment reference. Because of the air-space design, our Achromatic Quartz-MgF2 Wave Plates have a higher damage threshold than achromatic polymer film wave plates. Achromatic Quartz-MgF2 Wave Plates are also less expensive than achromatic polymer film wave plates.
High Retardation Accuracy Over Broad Wavelength
Achromatic Quartz-MgF2 Zero-Order Wave Plates provide a much higher degree of retardation accuracy than regular zero-order quartz wave plates. Achromatic Quartz-MgF2 Wave Plates operate over a broad wavelength range, compared to the single wavelength performance of zero-order quartz wave plates. For specific retardation accuracy performance, please visit the 10RP54-1B, 10RP54-2B or 10RP54-3B product pages.
Black Anodized Aluminum Housing
The assembly is mounted in a 25.4 mm or black anodized aluminum housing for protection and ease of mounting, with the retarder fast axis marked for alignment reference. The standard 25.4 mm outer diameter is convenient for mounting into Newport rotary mounts. The 18 mm large clear aperture makes it ideal for ultrafast applications.
High Damage Threshold From Air-spaced Design
Achromatic Quartz-MgF2 Zero-Order Wave Plates consist of crystalline quartz and magnesium fluoride (MgF2) crystals, each with a highly efficient broadband antireflection coating, in an air-spaced design. This construction ensures excellent transmitted wavefront quality, while minimizing beam deviation and surface reflection losses. Because of the air-space design, our Achromatic Quartz-MgF2 Wave Plates provide a pulse damage threshold of 5 J/cm2 with 10 nsec pulses at 1064 nm, which is much higher than that of achromatic polymer film wave plates.
