Optical Post, 3.0 in. Height, 0.5 in. Diameter, 8-32 and 1/4-20 Thread

The SP-3 Precision Ground Stainless Steel Optical Post is 1/2 in. diameter with a 3.0 in. height. SP posts have an 8-32 tapped hole in one end and a 1/4-20 tapped hole in the other end. SP Series Posts are compatible with VPH and VPT Series Post Holders, or can be directly mounted to a table or breadboard. This product is also available in 10-piece saving pack SP-3-PK.

Tapped Holes in Both Ends

SP Series Optical Mounting Posts are precision ground 0.5 in. diameter stainless steel optical posts. Each post has an 8-32 tapped hole in one end and a 1/4-20 tapped hole in the other end. Each optical mounting post is supplied with a 8-32 double-ended set screw for joining posts together to create customizable lengths. Different ends of the posts can also be connected with TA-8Q20-10 thread adapters.

Compatible With a Wide Variety of Optical Post Holders

These optical posts are compatible with a variety of 0.5 in. Optical Post Holders which lock posts in place over a range of the posts' lengths, giving a continuous and customizable height to the mounted component. Newport's post holder families feature innovative designs such as: a brake-shoe clamp to prevent the post from slipping while making adjustments, a quick-release cam-lock for easy locking of posts, a slotted-base to provide maximum placement flexibility and repeatability, kinematic indentations at the top of the base to allow repeatable rotational alignment, and magnetic bases.

Cross-Drilled Hole for Easy Tightening and Loosening

Posts that are 2 inches and taller feature a 0.1 in. diameter cross-drilled hole below the 8-32 end. By inserting a 5/64 in. hex wrench (or similar tool) into this hole, it can be used to rotate the post to tighten it into or loosen it from the optical table or breadboard more easily.
