Product Series Overview
Hex-Driven Miniature Platform Mirror MountsThe U50-PS ULTIMA® Platform Mount offers unsurpassed functionality. Thick front and rear plates and optimized, stiff springs improve the long-term stability and provide greater protection against vibrations. A large array of optical mounting accessories is available for these mounts making ULTIMA a basic building block for many optical systems. When this mount is used with the optional adaptor UPA-PA.5 it can be converted to a horizontal tip/tilt or tip/tilt and translation post-mounted platform for prisms, cube beamsplitters, and other components. When used with the optional Mirror Holder UPA1 this mount provides a stable mounting platform for 1-inch (25.4-mm) diameter mirrors. It has integral, 100 TPI hex head adjustment screws. The optional KD.37 knobs have two slots for an Allen wrench to increase the adjustment sensitivity. Two actuators allows ±5° tip/tilt and translation. Convenient clearance mounting holes on each of two sides are compatible with either 8-32 or M4 screws providing quicker, more precise, and more secure mounting.

Hard carbide pads ensure smooth, repeatable motion. A large array of optical mounting accessories is available for these mounts making ULTIMA a basic building block for many optical systems.
Horizontal or Vertical Mounting
Both MM-HEX and P100-P series can be post mounted as a horizontal tip/tilt platform using the threaded hole in the center or a vertical mount using the threaded hole on the side.
U50-P ULTIMA platform mounts can also be mounted horizontally with adapter UPA-PA.5, which is already included in U50-P and U50-P1 models.
Allen-Key Adjustment
Allen-key adjustments screws are used in the miniature platform mounts to save space and prevent unintended adjustment. For long-term stability, U50-PL and U50-PL1 feature a flexure lock built into the mount body, which exerts a tangential force on the screw to prevent rotation.
Dedicated Mirror Adapters
Newport's Platform Mounts are complimented by a set of mirror cup adapters. The Mirror Cup Adapters are compatible with ULTIMA series and P100-P miniature platform mounts. They attach to the face of the platform mount through the 1/4-in. hole in the center of the platform and are locked in place by a set screw from the side. The Horizontal Adaptors attach to the mounting holes on an optical mount, providing a mechanism to convert the ULTIMA Platform Mounts to a post-mounted horizontal platform for mounting prisms, cube beamsplitters, or other components.
