Since the losses in electrical cables and connectors depend on the frequency of the RF signal, using the correct cable type, length and connector is essential. Our 40-GHz flex cable provides high performance at a reasonable cost, and connector adapters for additional compatibility are also available.

High Performance Cable at a Reasonable Price
Typical coaxial cables, which are made with RG-58, are very lossy beyond 1 GHz and should not be used with Newport's ≥12-GHz photoreceivers and photodetectors. On the other hand, very expensive cables are available up to 50 GHz with acceptable, but non-negligible, losses. Newport offers the optimal solution with our 1227NF 40-GHz flex cable which provides high performance at a reasonable cost. This 24-inch flexible cable has a male Wiltron K connector at one end and a female Wiltron K connector at the other end.
Connector Adapters for Additional Compatibility
To extend the compatibilty of the 40-GHz flex cable with more photoreceivers and photodetectors, two connector adapters are available. Model 1225 connector adapter features a male SMA connector on one end and a female BNC connector on the other end, while model 1226 connector adapter has a female SMA connector on one end and a male BNC connector on the other.
