Features

Full Reflectors Reflect Entire Lamp Output

Full Reflector type mirrors have an AlMgF2 coating optimized to increase ultraviolet (UV) reflectivity. These mirrors reflect from 200 nm to 30 µm, making them suitable for applications in which the entire broadband output of a lamp is required.

Dichroic Mirrors Reflect a Specific Portion of Lamp Output

Dichroic mirrors are designed for high reflectance and polarization insensitivity over a specific wavelength range in the UV or visible spectrums. Most of the infrared (IR) light that is potentially damaging to other components in the system is passed to an absorbing assembly behind the mirror. If additional filtering of IR light is required, a Liquid Filter can be used.

Protects Sensitive Components from Infrared Light Damage

500 and 1000 W Arc and QTH Light Sources produce high intensity IR light, which is capable of cracking bandpass filters and damaging fiber bundles. Dichroic mirrors protect optical accessories from potentially damaging IR light. Most of the IR light output is transmitted through the dichroic mirror and absorbed by the mirror housing. A heat sink dissipates the heat. It is important to be aware that the outside of the mirror housing, particularly the heat sink, becomes very hot. Caution should be used when working with these light sources and components.

1.5 Inch, 2 Inch, and 3 Inch Flange Mirror Holders Available

For easy coupling to Oriel lamp components, 1.5 inch, 2 inch, and 3 inch flanged mirror holders are available. Each mirror holder has both a male and female flange. The male flange is useful for coupling to the output of a lamp housing condenser lens. The female flange is useful for coupling to a Flanged Lens Holder, Shutter, or other male flanged component. Mirrors are interchangeable within the mirror holder, allowing the user to swap mirrors depending on the needs of his/her application.
