These high power 1000 W Xenon light sources use long lifetime Xe arc lamps to provide high intensity ultraviolet (UV) to near-infrared (NIR) light output with minimum light ripple. Everything needed to operate the lamp such as a lamp housing, power supply, and power cables are included into one package. Xenon (Xe) arc lamps are popular illumination sources for fluorescence microscopy and spectrophotometer systems and industrial applications.

Features
All Necessary Components for Lamp Operation Included
High power research light sources includes an arc lamp, appropriate socket adapter, lamp housing interconnection cables, power supply, and Research lamp housing. After a quick and easy assembly, the light source is ready for use and easily integrated into a user's setup. The lamp housings offered with these light source kits are capable of operating all 450-1000 W DC arc lamps. This allows the user to interchange lamps in their setup simply by replacing the lamp and socket adapter (if necessary) in their lamp housing.
Simple Lamp Alignment Process
Due to small manufacturing differences between lamps, the rear reflector position and lamp position relative to the condenser lens must be adjusted when a new lamp is installed in the housing. Adjustment knobs located on the exterior of the lamp housing allow for optimum positioning of the lamp and rear reflector.
Two 450 W Xenon Arc Lamp Options
450 W Xenon lamps are offered in UV Enhanced or Ozone Free versions. Xe lamps have a white light output very similar to the sun and a high color temperature, making these lamps useful for solar simulation. These lamps are also popular for wafer inspection. 6279NS Ozone free lamp is excellent option when wavelength emission below 260 nm are not required. If an ozone creating lamp must be used, it is recommended to use the light source near a ventilation port or outdoors. For users requiring the output of a Xe arc lamp with additional intensity in the UV region, 6278 UV Enhanced Xe arc lamp is offered.
High Stability Arc Lamp Power Supply
The 69920 power supply provided with these light sources is a highly regulated power supply. Much of an arc lamp's stability in wavelength and output intensity is due to keeping the temperature and pressure of the gas inside the lamp's envelope as constant possible. The 69920 power supply provides highly stable voltage and current supply to the arc lamp, keeping the arc lamp's ripple to less than 1% rms while maximizing the lifetime of the lamp.
High Power Research Lamp Housing
Oriel's Research Lamp Housings are designed to focus the output light of the lamp to the user's needs while providing an ideal environment for lamp operation and user safety. A built in temperature sensor and cooling fan prevents overheating of the lamp during operation. A rear reflector built inside the lamp housing reflects back scatter radiation from the lamp. The collimating lens assembly on each Research Lamp Housing is used to ensure the lamp is properly aligned within the housing and optimally focus the light output to the user’s needs. If the lamp housing door is not firmly secured to the lamp housing or a lamp housing interconnection cable is not firmly secured to its connector, the lamp inside will not ignite or supply voltage and current to the lamp will not be supplied. This protects the user from accidental exposure to UV radiation and high voltage during ignition and operation of the lamp.
Two Condenser Lens Options
Light sources with a -R1 suffix include the model 66921 high power research lamp housing. This housing has a 2 Inch series flange series and offers 48 mm diameter, collimated light output. The condenser lens included is a F/1 two-element plano-convex lens with the secondary lens in place to correct spherical aberration from the first.
Light sources with a -R07 suffix include the model 66923 high power research lamp housing. This housing has a 3 Inch flange series and a 69 mm diameter, collimated light output. The condenser lens contains a F/0.7 four element Aspherab™ lens assembly, the most efficient light collection setup offered that is almost free of spherical aberration.
Arc Lamp Safety
Arc lamps may emit dangerous levels of UV radiation depending on their source type. Ensure that only authorized personnel are in the vicinity of the source, and wearing the necessary safety equipment such as UV protective eyewear, clothing, and gloves. Lighted UV warning signs, posted outside laboratory doors where UV sources are operating, can prevent accidental exposure. Newport also recommends using an electronic shutter to block the beam when the source is not in use but remains turned on. Alternatively, the beam can be safely contained by using beam tubes or fiber optic cables to deliver the light to a sample. It is recommended to vent the ozone that is produced by some lamp models to the outside or use the 66087 Ozone Eater.
