Flexure Design for Smooth and Reliable XY Positioning
The model 9051 XY fiber launcher’s unique flexure design doesn't rely on bearings to provide smooth, stictionless motion when coupling light from free-space into multimode fibers. Each axis of motion has 0.125 in. ( 3 mm) of range and provides 4.4 µm resolution per 5° turn of the positioning screw, tightened by an Allen key. The positioner can be mounted to an optical post or pedestal riser, as well as a flat surface using a threaded 8-32 hole (or M4 for metric versions). A nylon-tipped setscrew secures the fiber chuck for alignment. The Model 9092 coupler body is compatible with this positioner for coupling to microscope objectives.
Fiber Launcher Provides Five-axis Alignment Control
The model 9095 free-space to Multimode Fiber Launcher combines the Model 9051 XY fiber positioner with a modified Model 9807 mirror mount to offer a cost-saving, five-axis multimode-fiber launcher. The mirror mount contributes tip, tilt, and (from their coupling) Z translation for fully granular alignment control. The additional axes each have an 8° range of motion.
Tiny Multimode Fiber Positioner with Five Degrees of Freedom
The model 9016NF Tiny Fiber Positioner uses a flexure design to provide smooth motion to fiber alignment for its five degrees of freedom. Using a similar architecture to our Model 9091 Single-Mode-Fiber positioner, this single-unit component provides the same 4.4 µm resolution per 5° with a compact design to fit in confined spaces. The components mounts to optical pedestals and posts with a threaded mounting hole, available with either 8-32 threads or M4 threads.
