Manual Linear Stage, Crossed-Roller Bearings, Aperture, 50.8 mm, M6

The M-436A High-Performance Low-Profile Crossed-Roller Bearing Linear Stages feature crossed-roller bearings running on ground steel V-ways to provide an attractive combination of high-resolution movement, low runout, and large load capacity. This version features a 50.8 mm diameter aperture in the center of the mounting plate with M6 tapped holes and a 50.8 mm travel range. The stages are easily stacked for XY applications, and may be combined with our Model 360-90 Angle Bracket for XYZ configurations.
Crossed-Roller Bearings For High Load Capacity Over Longer Travel Ranges
Preloaded crossed-roller bearings provide repeatable, zero stick-slip linear motion with negligible side-play. The roller strips hold cylindrical rollers alternately inclined 90° to assure constant linear contact with the hardened and ground ways. With the additional mounting area on the 426/436 long-rage stages, crossed-roller bearings are used to provide a higher center load capacity while maintaining smooth travel over the entire 1 or 2 in travel. Actuators are spring supported for minimal backlash and achieve <150 µrad deviation, all of which is verified and assured by Newport’s Interferometric Quality Assurance Facility.
Reconfigurable for Left- or Right-Handed Applications
These extended range stages are designed with symmetrical features allowing them to be reconfigured for left- or right-handed operation. This video shows a 426 stage being reconfigured to have the actuator accessible from the opposite side of the stage. A left-handed configuration is recommended when using the stage for vertical translation, and it may also be useful for improving adjustment accessibility in some systems.
Build Multi-Axis Stage Stacks
Our 426/436 Series stages are easily stacked and may also be combined with our Model 360-90 Slotted Angle Bracket for 3-Axis (XYZ) translation. A non-influencing lock secures travel of each stage. The mounting area features an array of 1/4-20 or M6 tapped holes on either a solid platform, or one with a 2-in. diameter aperture (Models 426A and 436A), which is unobscured over 0.625 in. (16 mm) of travel. This video demonstrates how to assemble a 3-axis (XYZ) manual linear translation system with 3x 426 stages and a 360-90 angle bracket. (Note that a left-handed configuration is recommended for vertical translation.)
