Extended Range, Ball Bearing Aluminum Linear Stages

Long-range, ball bearing, linear translation stages are a staple in any optical laboratory. They are easily fit with manual or motorized actuators in right or left handed configurations. They have multiple M6 or 1/4-20 tapped holes for mounting optical components, and can be stacked together for multi-axes use.

Features

Ball-bearings Provide Smooth Linear Translation

Ball bearings in these stages reduce friction compared with rolling motion to guide linear translation. Although the guide ways are externally loaded to eliminate unwanted runout in the bearings, friction remains negligible to provide smooth travel over the entire range. The motion of each axis can easily be locked in place.

Designed to be Reconfigured to Left or Right-Handed

These extended range stages are designed with symmetrical features allowing them to be reconfigured for left or right-handed operation. This video shows a 423 stage being reconfigured to have the micrometer accessible from the opposite side of the stage. This is needed to allow the stage to be used for vertical travel but is also useful for improving adjustment accessibility. Note, also, that the lock and the micrometer locations can be switched.

423 XYZ Stage Stack Assembly

These extended range stages are designed to be easily configured into multi-axis stage stacks. An XYZ assembly is shown in this video using three SM-25 micrometer actuated 423 stages with a 360-90 or 9101NF right angle bracket.

Integrate with Rotation Stages

Easily combine and stack these light-weight stages together with 481 Rotation Stages for a multi-axis system. The rotation stage may be mounted below or above the linear stages.

Compatible with Multi-Axis Tilt Stages

423 series stages are compatible with our multi-axis tilt platforms to provide full alignment capability. On the left, the 443 linear stage is mounted atop the Model 39 which provides tip/tilt adjustment. On the right, Model 36 is mount to an xy stack of 423 linear stages.
