Features
Highly Visible Color Display
The 5.7 inch, full color, graphical LED display provides excellent legibility from any angle, in any light condition. It enables both numerical and graphical measurement representation, with a choice of six different display colors. Measurements can also be displayed in formats including numeric, graphic, bar and strip charts.
Software suite including LabVIEW™ and C# samples
The application software, common for 1830-R series and the discontinued 1918-R optical power meter, gives users the flexibility of a command line environment as well as the ability to download collected data directly to a computer for analysis. Advanced programming toolkits such as LabVIEW™ and .Net C# samples will be installed automatically when installing the application software. Basic USB communication setup programming samples are also provided in C++ and Visual Basic.

Various Measurement Units
Modulated or Pulsed Light Measurement
Newport’s high bandwidth design allows calibrated power measurements of highly fluctuated, modulated, or pulsed sources using photodiode detectors. Frequency measurements can be made in the 1 Hz up to 250 kHz range, using Newport’s Low Power 918D and 818 series photodiode detectors and 819C/D series integrating sphere detectors.
Calibration Report Included
Newport certifies calibration performed using standards traceable to the National Institute of Standards and Technology (NIST) and other recognized national standards laboratories. Included with your new instrument is a comprehensive calibration report. Newport also recommends recalibration every 12 months.
Additional Benefits
- Color plotting, statistics and on-board data post-processing
- USB and RS-232 computer interfaces
- Analog bar graph with 10X zoom
- Accelerated thermopile based power measurements with fast prediction algorithm
- USB data transfer up to 11 Mbps
- Sophisticated automation capabilities in testing and laboratory applications
- True rms measurements
Ideal for Consumer Products Sector
Recent developments in the consumer products sector – including Lidar, motion recognition and facial recognition – employ high-speed, modulated lasers which require fast optical power meters for accurate and reliable characterization. As the most advanced and versatile optical meters available, the 1936-R and 2936-R are the best choices for application success.
