VP Series Compact Aluminum DC Motor Linear Stages
With an aluminum body in a compact package, the VP Series 25-mm travel stages deliver exceptional minimum incremental motion (MIM) and position stability. These stages also feature recirculating ball bearings, a backlash-free ball screw and a linear steel scale encoder. Applications include: fiber alignment, bio-medical, semiconductor and high precision test and measurement.

Compatible Controllers
Compatible motion controllers for the VP-25XA stages are:
- XPS-RLD Motion Controller (2 or 4 Axis): Requires an XPS-DRV11 Driver Module.
- XPS-D Motion Controller (2, 4, 6 or 8 Axis): Requires an XPS-DRV11 Driver Module.
- ESP302 Motion Controller (1, 2, or 3 Axis): Plug and Play compatible with ESP302 Motion Controller.
- SMC100CC Single Axis Motion Controller.
Compatible motion controllers for the VP-25XL stages are:
- XPS-RLD Motion Controller (2 or 4 Axis): Requires an XPS-DRV03 Driver Module and a E5820A Encoder Adapter.
- XPS-D Motion Controller (2, 4, 6 or 8 Axis): Requires an XPS-DRV03 Driver Module and a E5820A Encoder Adapter.

XYZ Configuration
The VP stages can be easily stacked into XY configurations or XYZ configurations using the VP-BK (M-VP-BK) bracket. The VP stages conveniently come with either imperial or metric hole patterns.
Micro-positioning
The VP-25XL series features a linear steel scale encoder ensuring positioning with accuracy of ±1 µm is possible when commanded by the XPS advanced motion control system.
DC Motor for Smooth, High Speed Motion
DC Motors are best characterized by their high speeds, smooth motion, good efficiency and a high power/weight ratio. Precise closed-loop servo positioning and speed control on these VP stages is achieved with a built-in linear encoder and included tachometer. A manual adjustment knob also adds to the utility of these stages.

Error Mapping Services
For critical positioning applications, Newport offers error mapping upon request for VP-25XL stages driven by our XPS advanced motion controller. We will measure, implement, and verify the results of this error map that will individually optimize each stage's position accuracy. In addition, multi-axis error mapping is also available. Measurements are made at 20.0 ±0.2 °C. A certificate of calibration will be provided with your stage. Actual data may also be provided upon request.
